After the largest ever KubeCon last December in Seattle with more than 8,000 attendees, KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe will bring together more than 10,000 technologists from thriving open source communities across the world to further collaboration around cloud native computing.
Melanie Cebula, infrastructure engineer at Airbnb, gave a talk at QCon London about the internal tooling and strategies Airbnb adopted to support over 1000 engineers concurrently configuring and deploying over 250 critical services to Kubernetes (at a frequency of about 500 deploys per day on average).
Kubernetes v1.13 moves raw block volume support to beta. This feature allows persistent volumes to be exposed inside containers as a block device instead of as a mounted file system. Block devices enable random access to data in fixed-size blocks. Hard drives, SSDs, and CD-ROMs drives are all examples of block devices.
